ROME (ITALPRESS) – From tennis to football, from volleyball to rugby. Four sports and four champions: Adriano Panatta, Ciccio Graziani, Andrea Lucchetta and Martin Leandro Castrogiovanni. They are the protagonists of the twenty-second edition of the initiative promoted by Banca Generali “A champion as a friend”, presented at the Parioli club in Rome.
The 2023 edition is proposed as a shock therapy to convey to the new generations the importance of sporting activity as a form of well-being and healthy growth.
“We have been sharing this initiative for 12 years with four great champions, on the one hand the goal is to bring the concept of financial education to young people, on the other to use the metaphor of sport as a beautiful metaphor for life”, said Marco Bernardi , deputy general manager of Banca Generali, “Setting yourself goals, working to be able to achieve them, making sacrifices, which is what you do when you save. Knowing why you save money, maybe giving up something every day to have something more tomorrow, this I think is a very important element to give to kids”.
Starting from 10 May, over 10,000 primary and lower secondary school children from all over Italy will be involved in a major national sporting-educational event: tennis, rugby, football and volleyball will be the disciplines in which young students will compete dealing with sports and life champions. The tour will start in via da Grosseto and wind its way along the entire peninsula, stopping only in the summer months.

the comment of Flavio Siniscalchi, councilor of the Ministry of Sport, “the message that can come from these champions is extraordinary, to teach the values of a healthy lifestyle linked to sport. Sport brings together a series of positive values that must be disseminated”.
Banca Generali confirms its attention to the issues of values towards the youngest, choosing to join the Un Campione per Amico event for the twelfth consecutive year, reinforcing its commitment to financial education in this new edition. The managers of the bank in the area will in fact participate in the days preceding the event in meetings with the classes of the schools involved in meetings on financial education and during the event the booklets “Leo presents: sustainable savings” will be distributed in the square, which introduces a simple to often complex concepts even for adults. “Without Banca Generali this event would never have started, they have always believed in us, in the promotion of sport – recalled Adriano Panatta -. We have been doing this event for more than 20 years and it has always been a great success. It’s a big party in the square, it involves many cities and we have fun too. Our goal is to convey the true values of sport to the youngest”.
The 2023 edition of “Banca Generali – A Champion for a Friend” will visit six cities between May and June, Grosseto (May 10); Como (May 18); Brescia (May 24); Asti (May 30); Perugia (June 1) and Pinerolo (June 6) to then resume after the summer break starting in September. The format remains unchanged: for the occasion, the most beautiful Italian squares will be transformed into real open-air gyms, with entertainment, music, gadgets, where the four famous testimonials will be available for children to play, laugh, animate and broadcast the true values of sport as a spirit of sacrifice, integration and respect for diversity. In the stages, children will participate without any distinction of ability, thanks to the involvement of associations present in the area selected in collaboration with the Italian Paralympic Committee. Also this year the patronage of CONI is confirmed. Lucchetta explained that “the goal is to inspire in children the desire to play, have fun, smile, spend time with four champions in order to inspire their curiosity towards the game to practice four different sports in the future”, while for Catrogiovanni “it is a ‘incredible experience, through sport you can not only train champions of sport but also of life and it’s important to start early”.
There are 21 editions in the archive, more than 210 stages already covered, a staff of over 50 people who move from city to city, but above all about 210,000 children involved.
