Cruzeiro, commanded by Portuguese coach Pepa, started with the left foot in this year’s edition of the Brasileirão, losing on Sunday to Corinthians by 1-2, in the first round of the Brazilian championship.
After the match, the Portuguese coach criticized the refereeing team, mainly in relation to the second goal awarded to Corinthians. There were two moves I didn’t agree with, but I will never disrespect any referee. I spoke to him without any problems and said that I did not agree. But it will never be an excuse, because we could have done more and better, said the coach at a press conference.
It seemed to me that the second goal was initially disallowed by the referee. I cannot understand how a player two meters tall can take another player out of contention for the ball and then reverse the situation [confirming the goal]. I spoke to the referee and said I don’t agree, he added.
But it will never be an excuse, because we could have done more and better. But that’s over, I prefer to direct my energies to what we need to do. We know how far we can go, concluded the Portuguese coach.
