The ten miners who were trapped in a coal mine in the Colombian municipality of Sutatausa (center) were found lifeless, bringing the death toll from Tuesday’s explosions to 21, authorities reported Thursday. The governor from the department of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, confirmed to journalists that the rescuers already had “visual contact with the ten bodies.” “Unfortunately there are 10 more people dead, for a total balance of 21 people dead. Work begins today to extract those 10 bodies that we had not found,” added the official. Photo: Reuters
