The Bank was thus able to make record investments of €360 million in the private sector and €170 million to support Morocco’s green economy. 58% of all investments focused on gender equality and inclusion. To support Morocco’s transition to a low-carbon economy the Bank co-financed the modernization of the Koudia Al Baida wind farm in the north of the Kingdom through a senior loan of up to EUR 44 million. euros. This is the first wind farm modernization project in Africa. With a view to harnessing the economic potential of the eastern region of Morocco and improving regional access to infrastructure the EBRD granted additional financing of 100 million for the construction of the port of Nador West Med (NWM). The Bank has also provided technical cooperation support worth €1 million to assess the potential role of NWM in the hydrogen value chain.
