There are five counterfeit identity cards found in the hideout of vicolo San Vito, in Campobello di Mazara, where the boss Matteo Messina Denaro spent the last period of his hiding.

The documents, all with the passport photo of the mafia boss, are made out to as many people alive and with a clean record, aliases who have lent their identity to the godfather of Castelvetrano for a very long period: about 15 years. Therefore, it was not only Andrea Bonafede, the surveyor who made his documents available to Messina Denaro, allowing him to use them in the health facilities where he was operated on and treated . Investigators are attempting to ascertain whether the other aliases knew about the forgery.
